The Rye Arts Center Celebrates Creativity and a Full Gallery of Nearly 100 Artworks

From January 8 through 28, The Rye Arts Center is presenting its annual Student, Member, and Instructor Show, inviting artists, families, and supporters to experience the free public exhibition. This year’s open-call garnered 90+ artworks from students, members, and instructors, offering a broad view of creative practice across ages and experience levels.

“Participation in the annual show has more than doubled over the past four years, reflecting The Rye Arts Center’s growing role as a place for accessible arts education and creative engagement. Artists ranged in age from 3 to 93, underscoring the Rye Arts Center’s commitment to providing opportunities for creative expression at every stage of life”, said Gallery Manager and Exhibitions Curator, Sarah Mackay.

The official opening reception on January 13 drew more than 150 guests, among them numerous donors and supporters who shared the experience with artists and their families. The gathering served as a powerful illustration of how community support underwrites programs devoted to learning, connection, and creative growth.

The works on view traced a spectrum of joy, personal development, mental well-being, and skill building. Ranging from early explorations by young artists to the refined practices of experienced instructors, the exhibition reflected the enduring role of the arts in shaping confidence, expression, and lifelong learning.

“The energy in the gallery was electric,” said Adam Levi, Executive Director of The Rye Arts Center. “Seeing so many artists, families, and supporters together reinforces why this moment of growth is so important. Our planned expansion will allow us to welcome more artists, deepen engagement, and strengthen our role as a creative home for the community.”

The Student, Member, and Instructor Show offered a clear snapshot of the Rye Arts Center’s broader vision: A cultural epicenter in which artistic expression sustains personal well-being and forges connections through shared experience.
