Irvington High School Science Olympiad Teams Compete at Regional Tournament

Irvington High School’s Science Olympiad teams recently competed in the Lower Hudson South Regional Tournament at Maria Regina High School, joining schools from across the region for a full day of rigorous academic competition.

Team A finished 12 overall, while Team B placed 23rd. Throughout the tournament, Irvington students earned multiple medals across a variety of science disciplines, reflecting both their strong preparation and collaborative spirit.

Anthony Panarelli and Nicco Uccellini earned first place in Dynamic Planet and Levent Sarayli and Nicco Uccellini earned first place in Rocks and Minerals. Tyler O’Donnell and Anthony Panarelli placed second in Remote Sensing, while Firel Lang and Davin Toeman earned third place in Disease Detectives. Max Bloom and Laiba Shaukat finished fourth in Designer Genes and sixth in Materials Science. Lucy Acharekar and Davin Toeman earned fifth place in Rocks and Minerals.

Science Olympiad challenges students to apply their knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, earth science and engineering through written exams, laboratory investigations and hands-on build events. Success in the competition requires not only deep content knowledge, but also critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork.
