Michael Nolan passed away 10 years ago, leaving behind a lasting legacy by saving six lives through organ donation
New York Blood Center (NYBC) and Westchester County Legislator James Nolan will host a blood drive on Saturday, October 11th from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Saunders Trades & Technical High School. The blood drive will be held in memory of Michael Nolan, a son, brother, and friend whose life was tragically cut short when he was shot by a passing car while spending time with friends.
Michael Nolan was a 23-year-old Yonkers native and a talented baseball pitcher drafted by Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics in 2014. Although his life was cut short on October 9, 2015, Michael continued to make a difference by saving six lives through organ donation. Ten years later, his family is encouraging the community to honor his legacy by donating blood and helping save lives in his memory.
Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently lifted several blood donor eligibility restrictions. To view current eligibility guidelines, visit nybc.org or call 800.688.0900.
