The recent nor’easter may have prevented golfers from playing in the annual Arc Westchester Foundation’s Golfing for Kids fundraiser, but it didn’t dampen their spirits or support. More than 100 attended the dinner at Knollwood Country Club to benefit The Arc Westchester’s Children’s School for Early Development.
While the golf portion of the event was canceled, the dinner provided an opportunity for supporters, friends, and community partners to come together in support of young children with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Children’s School for Early Development is a vital provider of community-based specialized services for young children with developmental disabilities in Westchester County. The school provides educational, social, therapeutic, and support services for children from birth to five years of age and their families. The school recently expanded its services with the opening of a new location in Briarcliff Manor.
“We were disappointed that the weather prevented our golfers from enjoying a day on the course, but we were incredibly grateful for their understanding and continued support,” said Barry Clark, Executive Director of The Arc Westchester Foundation. “The fact that so many people still came together for dinner speaks to the commitment of our supporters and their belief in the importance of providing children and families with the services they need.”
To show appreciation, each golfer received a voucher to return to Knollwood Country Club and enjoy a round of golf at a later date, compliments of the club.
The event also honored Integrated Protection Services, The Arc Westchester’s trusted fire and protection services partner. For many years, Integrated Protection Services has helped ensure that The Arc Westchester’s facilities remain safe, protected, compliant, and prepared to serve nearly 2,000 people and their families throughout Westchester County. The company was particularly instrumental in helping prepare The Arc Westchester’s new Children’s School location in Briarcliff Manor to open its doors in time for the 2026–27 school year.
“Early childhood intervention and education can have a lasting impact on a child’s development and future,” said Tibi Guzmán, Chief Executive Officer of The Arc Westchester. “Yet, government funding does not fully meet the growing needs of children and families who rely on these essential services. The generosity of our supporters allows us to provide the specialized education, therapy, and resources that help young children build important skills and reach their fullest potential. We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to stand behind our children and families.”
Making a Difference for Young Children
Support from Golfing for Kids helps provide important resources and opportunities for children at The Arc Westchester’s Children’s School, including:
· Playground improvements at the new Briarcliff Manor location to create an engaging and accessible outdoor environment.
· Professional development workshops for teachers and staff to strengthen educational and therapeutic services.
· Technology and online learning resources to enhance classroom instruction and provide additional learning opportunities.
· Class trips and community-based experiences that help children learn, explore, and participate in their communities.
· Furniture, therapeutic materials, art supplies, and toys for classrooms across the school.
The Arc Westchester Foundation thanks all of the golfers, dinner guests, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners who supported Golfing for Kids and helped make it possible to continue investing in the youngest children served by The Arc Westchester.
