A group of students from Rye High School’s Book Club shared their love for reading with younger students at Midland School during Tell a Story Day on April 27. The high school volunteers visited several classrooms and read a selection of their favorite books to students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
“Our high school students chose beloved classics to read and then discussed with the elementary students the reasons we all love reading,” said Michelle Garofano, co-adviser of the Book Club along with Simone Campbell. “One of the most memorable moments was when Jake shared a ‘choose your own adventure’ style story and the students in Ms. Lauro’s class asked him to read it a second time so they could make different choices. It was a fabulous day to share our love of reading.”
Special thanks to Kailey Cabrera, Alexia Chawana, Francesca Chiarelle, Mary Ebeling, Emma Giannetti, Charlotte Keenan, Jake Schonberg and Vera Tse for their participation.
