Rye City Schools Launch Anonymous Reporting System

The Rye City School District launched the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (ARS) on May 18 as part of its continued commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment.

Developed by Sandy Hook Promise, the Say Something ARS empowers students to recognize warning signs of potential concerns – whether in school, online or within the community – and encourages them to take action. Students can report concerns by speaking to a trusted adult or by using the anonymous reporting system when they notice behavior that may be concerning.

“The safety and well-being of our students, staff and school community remain our highest priority,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tricia Murray said. “We know that students often have unique insight into the experiences and challenges of their peers. This program helps equip them with the tools and confidence to support one another and seek help when it is needed, both in person and in digital spaces.”

As part of the implementation, Rye Middle School and Rye High School students participated in a training video to build awareness and understanding of the program. They also received information cards and “Say Something” bracelets during their lunch periods. Following the training, the students were able to access the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System through the district’s website. Reports submitted through the system are reviewed by a trained call center and directed to appropriate school personnel and, when necessary, law enforcement.

“We believe this is an important step in strengthening our shared responsibility to care for one another and ensure a safe school environment,” Dr. Murray said.
