Ossining High School continues to distinguish itself in the arts, with students receiving 42 Scholastic Art Awards this year in categories as diverse as experimental photography, fashion, and film & animation.

The competition is the nation’s longest running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. The awards were announced on January 28, 2026.

“Twenty-two of our students were honored with one or more Scholastic Art Awards,” said Ossining High School Director of Cultural Arts Kate Mathews. “What an exciting and powerful reflection of our students’ talents and our district’s emphasis on the arts!”

Ossining High School offers a wide range of visual & media arts opportunities, including introductory courses and comprehensive four-year programs in fine arts including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and jewelry. In addition, a dynamic media arts program features filmmaking, media production, graphic design and digital photography, all with a strong emphasis on portfolio development and real-world creative skills.

The most decorated student is senior Kyle Battacharia, who received seven Scholastic Art Awards in photography, including a Gold Award for “A Gathering of Culture,” and two Silver Awards for “The Care from Siblings,” and “Like Father, Like Son.”

Six other Ossining students received Gold Awards for their work: Emma Baumgarten, for her photograph “Gentle Giant;” Ariana Chun, for her photographs “U.S.A. Plummeting” and “Left Behind;” Daniel Costa, for his photograph “Reaching Back into History;” Sofia Giambona, for her photograph “Shattered Dreams;” Jayden Grabowiecki’s graphic design entry “Afterlyfe;” and Madeleine Lopes, for her photograph “Losing Face.”
