Jesse Dolch, a high school student with a passion for poetry and creative expression, recently led two multi-session poetry workshop series at the Greenburgh Public Library, bringing together teens from the local community.
The workshops, held in both the fall and spring, focused on helping participants explore poetry through music, storytelling, and creative experimentation. Open to teens of all experience levels, the sessions created a supportive and engaging environment where students could express themselves freely and build confidence in their writing.
During the spring series, Jesse guided participants through interactive exercises that connected music and poetry, encouraging them to find their own voice and approach to creative writing. The workshops emphasized that poetry can be accessible, personal, and meaningful, regardless of prior experience.
The program reflected the Greenburgh Public Library’s ongoing commitment to providing enriching opportunities for teens and fostering creativity within the community.
Jesse’s initiative in designing and leading the workshops highlights the impact that student-led programs can have in bringing people together and creating spaces for self-expression.
“I wanted to create a space where people felt comfortable trying something new and expressing themselves,” Jesse said.
