Dows Lane Elementary School Named 2026 National Gold Star School

Dows Lane Elementary School has been named a 2026 National Gold Star School by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. This is a prestigious recognition honoring outstanding elementary and middle-level schools where collaborative learning communities drive continuous improvement and student success.

“We are all thrilled to receive this incredible honor,” Principal Dr. Andrea Kantor said. “At Dows Lane, we are deeply committed to creating an exceptional learning environment for students and adults. We embody The Irvington Way by fostering a culture of engagement, strong communication and self-awareness. Every day, we strive to be courageous learners and good humans, doing our best together as a community.”

According to the association, Dows Lane earned this distinction for cultivating a strong school culture, empowering individuals at every level and implementing systems that support sustained excellence. The National Gold Star program honors schools that demonstrate excellence across the program’s three core pillars – an established culture, empowered people and optimal systems – each grounded in shared priorities such as inclusive practices, trusting relationships, high expectations for growth, and student and staff well-being.

As a 2026 National Gold Star School, Dows Lane Elementary School’s exemplary practices will be highlighted by the association, providing inspiration and guidance for educators across the country.
