In celebration of Valentine’s Day Weekend, the City of Yonkers and the Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation are offering discounted pet adoptions to help residents and families find a loving fur-ever companion. The special promotion encourages sharing the love by opening hearts and homes to shelter animals in need.
“This weekend, we encourage Yonkers residents and families to consider adopting a pet,” said Mayor Spano. “Our shelter animals deserve a second chance at love in a happy, safe, and permanent home.”
“Pets bring joy, comfort, and companionship to households of all kinds,” said Parks Commissioner Steve Sansone. “Valentine’s Day Weekend is the perfect time for families and individuals to welcome a new member into their home while helping our shelter animals.”
Residents interested in adopting are encouraged to visit the Yonkers Animal Shelter, located at 1000 Ridge Hill Boulevard, to meet more than 100 adoptable cats and dogs. Discounted adoption fees will be $30 for cats and $40 for dogs.
The Yonkers Animal Shelter is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information on available pets or adoption requirements, please call (914) 377-6730.
