Bronxville High School’s Bronco TV Earns Second Place at Bash Awards

Students from Bronxville High School – members of the school’s Bronco TV – earned second place for Best Broadcast at the Broadcast Alliance for Senior High Awards. The awards ceremony was held on May 20 at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville. Competing against 15 schools, Bronco TV was recognized for its outstanding news segment.

Teacher Chris Doyle, who has led the program for the past 20 years, said the team’s success stemmed from the strength of the storytelling and the production quality.

“We won because of the interesting stories included, and really all the episodes this year,” Doyle said. “I also believe the editing and music greatly enhanced the show this year.”

The award-winning submission featured student-produced stories, including highlights from the school musical “Chicago,” an interview with members of the flag football team and a feature exploring a hidden area of the Bronxville School – two safes dating back to the 1930s.

Through their participation in Bronco TV, students develop hands-on experience in filming, editing and producing news and feature stories. They also learn the importance of sound, lighting and camera angles, while gaining confidence on camera and behind the scenes.
