Westchester County’s Homeseeker Platform Receives National Award for Expanding Access to Affordable Housing

Westchester County’s HomeSeeker platform has received a 2026 Award of Excellence from the National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED), earning national recognition for helping residents more easily find and apply for affordable housing opportunities.

The award was presented during NACCED’s 51st Annual Educational Conference and Training in Baltimore, where county leaders from across the country gathered to share innovative approaches to housing and community development. HomeSeeker was recognized in the Planning/Policy/Program Management category for its user-friendly design and its ability to simplify the affordable housing application process for residents throughout Westchester County.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “Finding affordable housing shouldn’t begin with navigating a confusing or complicated process. HomeSeeker was designed to put residents first by creating a single, easy-to-use resource where people can search for opportunities and apply online. We’re proud that a tool built to better serve Westchester residents is now being recognized nationally, and we’ll continue looking for innovative ways to improve access to housing and strengthen our communities.”

Westchester County Department of Planning Commissioner Blanca Lopez said: “This award reflects the hard work and collaboration that went into reimagining how affordable housing information is delivered to the public. HomeSeeker has created a more transparent and accessible experience for applicants while giving housing providers a more efficient way to connect with prospective residents. We’re honored to receive this recognition from our peers and remain committed to improving access to affordable housing throughout Westchester County.”

HomeSeeker serves as Westchester County’s centralized online portal for marketing fair and affordable housing opportunities. Residents can create an account, search available rental and homeownership opportunities, apply directly through the platform and receive notifications when new housing opportunities become available. The platform was designed to make the affordable housing process more transparent, accessible and efficient for both applicants and housing providers.

NACCED is the nation’s leading organization supporting county professionals who administer affordable housing, community development and economic development programs. The association’s Awards of Excellence recognize innovative local government programs that demonstrate leadership and improve services for residents.
