Rye City School District Welcomes Students Back for the 2026-27 School Year

The 2026-27 school year is underway in Rye, with students returning to Milton Elementary, Osborn Elementary, Midland Elementary, Rye Middle School and Rye High School on Sept. 8 for their first day of school.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tricia Murray joined principals and administrators outside the buildings to greet students as they arrived, welcoming returning students and new faces to their school communities.

Across the district, the first morning brought familiar faces back together as students reconnected with classmates, teachers and staff and settled into their classrooms and routines for the year ahead.

The first day also marked the beginning of another year of bringing The Rye Commitment to life across the district. Throughout the 2026-27 school year, students will continue to engage in learning experiences that encourage them to think critically, collaborate, communicate effectively and grow as learners and members of their communities.

With the new school year underway, Rye City School District looks forward to another year of learning, connection and growth as faculty and staff work together to create engaging and supportive experiences for every student.
