City of Yonkers Seeks Nominations for Michael Sabatino Legacy Award

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the City of Yonkers is now accepting nominations for the Michael Sabatino Legacy Award, presented by the Mayor’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board. The award will be presented at the City’s annual LGBTQ+ Flag Raising Ceremony at Yonkers City Hall on June 12, ahead of the Yonkers Pride Festival in downtown Yonkers on June 13.

The Michael Sabatino Legacy Award recognizes an individual who has made a meaningful impact on the LGBTQ+ community in Yonkers. Nominations are open to members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies whose efforts have supported, uplifted, and advanced inclusion across the City.

“Yonkers is proud to celebrate individuals who strengthen our community through advocacy, compassion, and leadership,” said Mayor Spano. “The Michael Sabatino Legacy Award honors those who continue to make Yonkers a more inclusive and welcoming place for all.”

Nominees must have a connection to Yonkers, including residents, City of Yonkers employees, or individuals who work in Yonkers. Eligible nominees may be members of the LGBTQ+ community or allies who have demonstrated a commitment to supporting the community.

Individuals may nominate themselves or others. All nominations must be submitted by May 13.

The award will be presented during the City of Yonkers LGBTQ+ Flag Raising ceremony at Yonkers City Hall on June 12, as part of the City’s Pride Month celebrations leading into the Yonkers Pride Festival in Downtown Yonkers on June 13.
