Bronxville High School students earned honors at the state level of the 2026 National History Day Competition, held on April 26 at SUNY Oneonta, securing a spot in the national competition set for June 16 in Maryland.
Social studies teacher Dana Landesman praised the students’ enthusiasm and collaboration throughout the event.
“They had so much energy, supported each other and were excited to share their passion for history,” Landesman said. “More schools and students participated in this year’s competition then had in the past.”
The students presented original historical research on this year’s theme, “Revolution, Reaction and Reform in History,” through one of five ways, including paper, website, documentary, performance or exhibit. Their projects were evaluated by a panel of professional historians and educators.
Cathy Kuang placed third in the individual exhibit category and will serve as an alternate. In the group website category, Leo Cipriani, Gabe Hanjis and Wilhelm Klose earned second place, qualifying to represent Bronxville at the national level.
