Bronxville High School senior and accomplished ballerina Diana McEnroe, 17, turns to another of her artistic passions this September with THE WAY WE LIVE NOW, a month-long photography exhibition opening today at the Bronxville Public Library.
McEnroe originally set out with her camera intending to document some of the most famous vistas of France. But as she traveled, something else caught her eye: the people standing in front of those vistas — and, particularly, the ways in which they experienced them through their phones. The resulting photographs became THE WAY WE LIVE NOW, an observant and affectionate look at a generation accustomed to photographing, posting and scrolling even in the presence of beauty.
“I see this as a sympathetic portrait of my generation,” McEnroe says. “It reflects the habits I share myself — the instinct to document, to scroll, to turn toward a screen even when something meaningful is right in front of us. I wanted to capture that tension honestly, without judgment.”
The exhibition will be on view throughout September 2026 in The Little Gallery, downstairs at the Bronxville Public Library.
