17 Byram Hills Seniors are Commended Students in National Merit Scholarship Program

Seventeen Byram Hills High School seniors were honored for their academic promise by the National Merit Scholarship Program, which designated them as Commended Students.

The students are Lilah Altman, Anisha Bobra, Zachary Cohen, Andrew Grodin, Caspar Hamilton, Annelisa Joseph, Asiya Karim, Ian Klugman, Sophia Li, Ella Petta, Vivienne Read, Eli Roth, Aveer Saxena, Nathan Schweitzer, Noah Stopnik, Rohan Sundaram and Alice Tardieu.

More than 1.2 million students enter the scholarship competition each year by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. About 34,000 of the 50,000 high scorers are named Commended Students and receive Letters of Commendation.

“Congratulations to our Commended Students for this impressive achievement,” Principal Christopher Walsh said. “We are proud of their commitment to academic excellence.”

Guidance Chairperson Kristina Wilson added: “I congratulate this year’s National Merit Commended Students on their exceptional academic achievement and dedication, which place them among the top tier of high school scholars nationwide.”
