Building Bridges Wellness Camp Supports Students’ Emotional Well-Being

From serene nature walks and mindful reading to immersive sound baths, energizing physical activities, breathwork and creative art expression, Rye Middle School students explored a wide range of activities designed to support their emotional well-being.

During Building Bridges Wellness Camp on May 1, the students rotated among six stations that offered a unique opportunity for students to discover healthy coping mechanisms for overwhelming emotions.

“The variety of activities ensure that each participant could find solace and connection in at least one or two experiences,” seventh grade school counselor Gabrielle Thomas said. “Building Bridges reaffirmed our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school community, where every individual is valued and empowered to thrive.”

Thomas noted that it was meaningful to see students step outside their usual preferences and genuinely enjoy news experiences. She said she hopes the students walked away with practical strategies they can continue to use to support their social and emotional well-being in the future.
